A thought sparked Treasure's interest and she looked back quickly at Rafe. Treasure had never seen nor heard of Rafe's mother. It seemed that it had always only been Gimel who had cared for Rafe. He had to have had a mother, of course, but where had she gone off to? "Rafe?" Treasure was uncertain if this would prove to be a tender subject, as her own mother was to her. "Who is your mother?" She wondered if perhaps this would give her something in common, a new connection with the alpha male.

"my real mother, or my adoptive one?" he replied. who his real mother was he didnt know, but he counted Katla as a mother, she had been around and cared for him for a good portion of his life, after all. now she was not around either though. at least Rafe was fully grown now and could take care of himself and the pack, which was a big difference from being left alone as a pup. he would answer the question either way though, it wasnt a big deal to him, both had vanished some time ago.

Treasure found Rafe's clarifying question quite confusing. He didn't have a relationship with his real mother either... She guessed. She pushed some sand around with a paw then looked at Rafe again. She assumed she was correct, but just in case, "Would you tell me about both of them?" She realized that she was incredibly curious about his past. Maybe if she knew more about him she could attune herself to his interests and get closer to him somehow. She turned her full attention to him, awaiting his answer. She wondered for a moment if he was interested at all about her past.
"well, i dont remember my biological mother. my adoptive mother was Katla. i was raised mostly by my dad, of course, and whoever had time to pupsit when he was busy." he told her. he thought for a moment, his memory was foggy about some things, like his birth bother. Katla however, he remembered, if not clearly, at least enough to miss her. he had loved her like he would have loved his real mother, but she had vanished too and left him with just his father again. it had been hard to accept the loss at first, as it is for anyone, but he had learned to cope. "what about you?" he asked.

Treasure found it interesting that Rafe had something in common with herself. "Well... The old healer Kiaru helped with my birthing. She told me that. My mom was around until I could walk on my own and eat a little meat, then she ran off with a brute she'd met after I was born. Kiaru was my only friend, really. But then she grew distant as well. She was hurting, I could tell. After that I started wandering the territories. I haven't seen my mother since." She thought for a moment and sighed. "Long story short, I had no parents to speak of."
"well, things happen i suppose, but look at it this way," he said, sitting down for a moment, "life goes on, we both missed out on a lot but we can catch up now that we are independent and can take care of ourselves. lets explore as much as possible! think about everything we can find if we put our minds to it." he wrapped his tail around his paws, watching her with a small wolfish grin. he hoped he had cheered her up a bit, he would try again if necessary. he did like her after all, she was cute. if love blossomed, he would actually consider her as a mate, he wasnt sure how she felt about him yet though, did she want to go that far? ah well, maybe that was something to think about later.

Rafe's words bought a small smile to Treasure's maw. He made a good point and that made her feel much better. Also, it had helped to finally explain her hurt to someone. She'd never gotten the chance to before. "You're right Rafe. It's time to move on. For both of us." The femme stood and shook a bit of loose sand from her fur before stepping to the water to drink once again. Perhaps this new frame of mind would bring better times. Perhaps Treasure would finally make something of herself. "So where are we going next?" She turned back to her leader and smiled.

"well, from what i know in the desert we have just the dunes to make it through before we have completed this territory." he said, giving a small smile back. who knows, maybe they would even run across the fire shrine during their trip. how exciting would that be, although they didnt have any sacrifices with them, and couldnt ask for anything, if they happened across it they could atleast look at it and say they had seen it. "do you want to rest some more, or find the dunes now?" he asked, looking at her as he shook a paw to get some sand off.

Treasure was eager to get going, so when Rafe asked if they should head for the dunes she nodded her head vigorously. "We should move on so we can get out of this heat." The fae swished her tail from side to side as she thought about everything she could learn from the male before her. She wouldn't even try to contain the excitement she felt. Someone was finally willing to teach her and look out for her, and that was more than she could have ever asked for. "So... Where are we going to go after we leave the desert?" She asked, looking off into the distance.

"i dont know, i suppose we could head towards the Silent Swamp, or the Snake Canyon." he said. really he wasnt sure where he needed to explore next; he hadnt gotten that far. "anywhere that has not been explored much we could benefit from i suppose." he gave her a small smile, as he thought about it. "i suppose it would be easier to do whichever is closest to the desert, and work our way through. how does that sound?" he asked her. working through the territories would be a good way to see what is where, and know their way through more places.

Treasure nodded in agreement. She would benefit from anything she did from now on. She'd had many failures in the past, and would soon be turning her luck around, or so she hoped. "The swamp sounds... sticky." She said, grinning a bit. "Perhaps Snake Canyon? Whichever is closest, I suppose. Though Snake Canyon does sound pretty exciting. Never been there before." The femme fell silent, smiling to herself. She'd never been this scatterbrained or talkative before. She wondered vaguely what in the world had made her behave like this. She didn't mind it of course; She had company and was happy for once - nothing would ruin her good mood.
